With their Porsche 911 on HRE Forged R43 wheels, Nick Longhi and Matt Plumb qualified 6th on the grid at Lime Rock Park and then finished third on the podium, earning Rum Bum Racing their second consecutive GRAND-AM Continental Tire Sports Car Championship, on their way to capturing the Driver championship as well (a first for both Longhi and Plumb).
Rum Bum Racing could have been crowned champions at Mazda Raceway Laguna Seca, however for an unfortunate track debris incident. Fast forward a few weeks to Lakeville, Connecticut and Rum Bum Racing is installing fresh tires onto their #14 Porsche 997 on the final pit stop of the race as Longhi makes way for Plumb to close out the remaining laps and finish third.
Of the season, Longhi remarked, “It all started with Luis Bacardi and Matt Plumb who were the originators of the entire concept and approach, and then Joe Varde bringing that team together that Matt has run. Not only does he drive the car but he also runs the team, and over the last few years it has been a fantastically successful arrangement.”
HRE Wheels would like to congratulate Rum Bum Racing on successfully defending their 2012 GRAND-AM title. Here’s to another trophy next season!
Total 2013 GRAND-AM statistics for Rum Bum Racing: 11 starts, 1 pole, 3 wins, 7 podiums, 9 top-fives, 91 laps led.
